Hair combs
Each of our Groetsch combs is handmade with a lot of heart in our workshop in Middle Franconia.
Natural materials such as wood and horn are ideal for making your favourite comb.
Every Groetsch comb cares for and gently combs your hair, is gentle on the scalp and hair and protects against unwanted tearing of the hair when combing. A sensual experience that can put a smile on your face.
The main advantages of our combs are:
Frizz-free - hair does not become electrostatically charged when combed
gentle, soft and caring for scalp and hair
massage the scalp
stimulate hair growth
make hair supple and shiny
so finely polished that oil and wax can be dispensed with as a polish
CO2 neutral and climate-friendly production thanks to our own hydroelectric power plant
sustainable and long-lasting because we work with nature
plastic-free
resource-friendly
Due to the traditional production with the old comb cutting machines, the respect for the trees which are mostly over 100 years old and which are CO2 reservoirs, we manage to produce as many wooden combs as possible and as little waste wood as possible.
Combing is good for you and healthy.
It is a sensual experience and puts a smile on your face.
How to use our hair combs?
For short hair, grasp the comb with your hand, place the wooden comb or horn comb on the scalp and comb downwards from the forehead or crown along the scalp. For longer hair, it is recommended to avoid knots. To avoid knots, comb the first 10 cm of your hair step by step towards the tip. Once these are combed, comb the next 10cm until you reach the scalp and can comb the full length of your hair from the scalp to the tip. The body's own hair fat absorbed by the scalp is the best care for your hair and your rather dry hair ends are happy about the distribution. With our Groetsch combs you can comb dry and wet hair gently. Please observe the combing technique described above, especially for wet and long hair, in order to avoid knots. If you use strongly alkaline hair soaps or shampoos for hair cleansing, which open up the hair structure a lot, we recommend applying an acidic conditioner (diluted fruit vinegar or lemon water) before using the hair comb or hair brush, in order to close the hair structure again and to protect the hair. Alternatively, you can use a hair soap or shampoo with a lower pH value. Brushing with a natural hairbrush before washing gives the hair a nourishing protective film and makes it easier to comb after washing. We are often asked if you can use a wooden comb or horn comb in wet hair. YES! be it after showering, after washing your hair, after swimming or after the sauna. There are many situations in which our hair is wet and we feel the need to comb it. Horn combs love dry and wet hair. They gratefully absorb the hair grease and gladly release it back into the hair. Please note that horn combs need to be polished at least twice a year with a light-coloured vegetable oil. The woods we have selected, such as maple, apple, service tree, hornbeam or cherry, belong to the hardwoods. These are so fine-pored that we can sand them smooth without oil or wax. This has the advantage for you that the wooden comb absorbs your hair grease and gets an individual patina that cares for comb and hair at the same time. Looking for your favourite comb made of wood or horn, you will find a wide range of comb types. Here we give you an overview of the different comb types from our house:
Hairdressing combs made of wood or horn are characterised by the fact that they either have two different teeth or have one continuous tooth to comb, sort and style the hair gently and carefully.
Handle combs made of wood or horn have been classics for many decades. Many people mainly use a toothed comb. Our experience shows that a handle comb often lies more firmly and securely in the hand than a styling comb and therefore falls out of the hand less often.
Curling combs are ideal for curly hair. The stronger you want to hold your curls, the wider you should choose the teeth. Our curling combs without a wooden bar have long teeth so that the volume is optimally maintained.
Pocket combs are wooden combs or horn combs that are suitable for carrying around in your bag. They are available in fine, coarse or wide teeth from 10cm to 14cm in length.
Hair cutting combs are made exclusively from the wood of the wild service tree. The unsteamed, untreated wood of the wild service tree is hard, very fine-pored and very elastic.
Energy combs made from the woods amaranth, oak, walnut and Swiss stone pine balance the energy flow of the body. The assignment to the 4 elements fire, earth, water and air makes the selection easier.
Energy combs for horses are made for combing mane and coat, massaging trigger points and massaging the fasciae.
Do you know the guild saying of the comb makers (yes, we write comb makers with two m's)? "Comb out, nor is it time, the sin' and vanity. "
Our hair is like reciprocal antennas. Antennas that can transmit and receive. If our hair is healthy and free of silicones or other blocking substances, our hair functions like a transmitter and a receiver at the same time. With our hair, which is as unique as our fingerprint, we communicate and receive the vibrations from our environment.
Do you know this? You are relaxed, filled with love, happy or at one with nature. Not only does your facial expression and the composition of the hormones in your body change, your hair structure also changes. This is an example of how our hair reacts to our well-being. If we step into a room where we feel uncomfortable, the hairs on the back of our neck can stand up.We send and receive with our hair.Energy flows from A to B. Energies like sin' and vanity (today I would call it incongruity and arrogance) can actually be felt combing out of the hair. When I feel energies in my hair that feel uncomfortable, I comb my hair and whip out the comb, like wet laundry before hanging it out to dry. By whipping out the comb, the uncomfortable energy that has passed from the hair into the comb is released and becomes free. Whether you should believe me?
